SOLD: Devon Manufacturer of shop fronts, entrances, commercial windows, curtain walling, etc.

Plym Valley Manufacturing was established in 1982 by Michael Pengilley and Tony Horswell. The business manufactures features for commercial buildings such as shop-fronts, entrances, automatic doors and windows using aluminium. Michael and Tony were responsible for the surveying, estimating, setting-out, ordering and invoicing with Mrs. Pengilley helping in the office. Three full-time members of staff were employed based in the workshop but also carrying out delivery and installation where necessary.

Over the years the business built up an excellent name and reputation within their market with most of the work being undertaken on a sub-contract basis on behalf of shopfitting, building or door and window maintenance firms with a lot of the work being done for schools, building firms or public sector clients.

Looking to retire Michael and Tony chose to instruct specialist business transfer agency, Beardsley Theobalds of Exeter (01392 253071) to act for them to handle the sale of their business. A national marketing campaign was conducted and the business was also advertised on their own and other industry web sites. Interest was shown by a variety of people but was largely from within The South West and from operators of similar businesses or businesses looking to add on a slightly diversified business to their portfolio. Potential purchasers were also attracted to Plym Valley Manufacturing the business was to be sold including the impressive business premises, on Estover Industrial Estate in Plymouth which gave the opportunity for several interested parties relocate to run all their operations from the one location.

Several offers were received with the successful bid being that from Nordic Installations owned by Chris Northam and Graham Shaddick.
