Fast Track to Growth expertise was invaluable to new business owners

A Devon company that provides one-off pieces of furniture for the likes of Facebook, Burberry and Liberty is urging Devon firms to take advantage of the same free business support they are benefiting from.

With high-end events including this year’s Facebook Summer party and launch of fashion brand Kent & Curwen’s autumn winter collection with David Beckham at London Fashion Week under their belt, East Devon-ased Virginia Vintage Hire is keen to unearth the next winner of the Fast Track to Growth programme.

Winning the support business programme in April, Ginny and Greg Banks have received £20,000 of free business support.

They began their business in 2012 after buying a stock of vintage chairs for their own wedding and realising there was a demand for unique furniture for events.

Now the company, which also has a base in Scotland, hires out rustic furniture and accessories for weddings, corporate events, backstage areas at festivals, films and photo shoots, working with the likes of Ted Baker, Hermes Paris and M&S.

Early this year they realised they needed business support to help the company move on to the next level of growth, and joined Fast Track to Growth, the Devon business programme providing free support to firms across the county.

Mrs Banks said: “In early 2017 we recognised our business was growing fast and we started to feel that maybe we didn’t have all the answers between just the two of us.”

The couple have seen their business benefit from the expertise available to them since winning the programme, with Fast Track to Growth partners offering support in various fields including business strategy, human resources, financial planning, PR, marketing and digital.

She continued: “The sponsors have been providing guidance and support and with their help we have set achievable goals and are discovering our potential for growth.

“We have already made some big changes to our business. We are rebranding to reflect a change in our customers and differentiate ourselves from the copycat businesses that have set up in our wake.

“A new website is being built and new marketing strategies are being discussed but the biggest change is in us and how we work.”

They have seen their business expand and urge all companies across Devon no matter how big or small to take the opportunity to learn, network and benefit from the free growth days and intensive support programme available with Fast Track to Growth.

Greg said: “We would highly recommend that companies join up to benefit from the amazing expertise on offer and the chance to meet other businesses in Devon. We no longer feel alone as we know we have a team we can turn to. We know our business is healthy and it’s on the right track strategically.”

“We couldn’t have done this much without the help of Fast Track to Growth – it’s been a game changer.”

Every company in Devon has the chance to gain free business support through Fast Track to Growth.

Companies that have recently joined the programme include Lime Cloud, We Love Social, Educated Recruitment and Root to Growth.

Fast Track to Growth members are invited to a meet and greet event on January 25. Tickets are free, and are only available to those who have signed up to the programme.

The next growth day will be held in April, with date and venue to be confirmed. Tickets are available to Fast Track to Growth members.
